This page summarises our safeguarding commitment. A full internal policy is maintained by our leadership team and updated in line with statutory guidance and best practice.

1. Purpose

Ground Roots Community Interest Company exists to support young people and families. We take seriously our responsibility to protect children, young people, and adults at risk from harm, abuse, and neglect during our programmes and activities.

2. Principles

• The welfare of children and vulnerable adults is paramount;
• All participants should feel safe and respected;
• We respond promptly and appropriately to concerns;
• We work in partnership with families, venues, and statutory agencies where needed.

3. Safer practice

We aim to:

• Risk-assess activities and venues;
• Ensure volunteers and staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities;
• Maintain appropriate supervision ratios and clear codes of conduct;
• Keep accurate records where required for safety and accountability.

4. Reporting concerns

If you are worried about a child or adult at risk in connection with our activities, contact us immediately at [email protected] with the subject line “Safeguarding concern”. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 (UK emergency services) first.

5. External support

You can also contact the NSPCC helpline (0808 800 5000) or your local authority children’s services. We will cooperate fully with statutory agencies where a referral is necessary.
